Stargazers across the UK tonight will be treated to the second supermoon of the summer. The full sturgeon moon will blaze across the sky tonight just one month after we saw the Buck Moon.

The Sturgeon Moon will represent the midpoint in four major moon-related events this summer. Moon lovers won't have to wait long for another supermoon after tonight as the Full Blue Moon will fall on August 30.

The term 'sturgeon moon' originates from North America and is the common nickname given to the full moon in August - it stems from the increase in sturgeon fish in North American lakes at this time of year.
