Warning for iPhone users as new chargers being rolled out under EU law

Anyone who owns an iPhone will have to purchase a new charger, after Apple has been forced to change the connection ports on devices.

It comes after a new EU law was passed, stating that electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets must feature a USB-C port.

Most Apple products currently use a Lightning power connector, which the tech company invented. However, this will have to be scrapped by the end of 2024 as the European Parliament enforce the USB-C, the Mirror reports.

Devices such as AirPods and iPhones will now need a different charger that is in line with the new law.A statement from European Parliament said: "By the end of 2024, all mobile phones, tablets and cameras sold in the EU will have to be equipped with a USB Type-C charging port.
