Turncoat Tory Lisa Cameron was handed a government job by Alister Jack just weeks after she defected from the SNP.The East Kilbride MP was made a Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) in the Scotland Office last month.Cameron defected from the Nationalists to the Conservatives in October after falling out with SNP activists in her constituency who were calling for her to be deselected.

The Scotland Office confirmed today she joined the UK Government weeks just after crossing the Commons floor to sit as a Tory.The Record understands that Cameron was appointed as a Scotland Office PPS at the end of November following a reshuffle.She accompanied Alister Jack at Scotland Questions on November 29.A PPS is selected from backbench MPs as the 'eyes and ears' of a minister in the House of Commons.

It is an unpaid job but it can be useful for an MP to become a PPS to gain experience of working in government.The MP claimed she had been ostracised by party colleagues for supporting the young staffer who was sexually harassed by MP Patrick Grady and branded the party’s culture at Westminster “toxic”.She had previously threatened to resign as an MP and trigger a by-election if she did not win the SNP nomination for East Kilbride.Rishi Sunak's spokesperson had also said that he "doubts that" Cameron still supported independence after she joined the Conservatives.Her husband Mark Horsham, an SNP councillor in South Lanarkshire, quit the party just a fortnight after her defection.The Daily Record reported that Cameron had repeatedly mentioned her support for independence in a hustings just a couple of weeks before she joined the Tories.She blamed the Conservatives for austerity and accused them of an “assault” on devolution in a meeting
