TUI plane skids off runway in terrifying landing during Storm Babet

A TUI plane has skidded off the runway while landing at Leeds Bradford Airport.The incident happened on Friday afternoon as the Boeing 737-800, which was arriving from Corfu, descended to land.The aircraft slid off of the runway and onto a grassy embankment at 1.53pm.

An emergency siren was activated and mercy crews including ambulances and specialist resources from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Yorkshire Ambulance Services’ Hazardous Area Response Team, were called to the scene.The daughter of a passenger on the plane posted a photo on X showing the plane's wing over a grassy area of the airport.

She wrote: "Mum just casually dropping into the group chat that their plane just went off the runway at Leeds Bradford Airport...thankfully all okay!"Another relative of a passenger on board also posted on X, saying: "omgggg my dad's plane overran the runway lol at Leeds Bradford airport and they've been stuck on the grass for an hour....
