Gogglebox's George Gilbey sadly died on Wednesday at the age of 40 after a reportedworkplace accident. George, who also starred on Celebrity Big Brother, passed away after the incident which took place in Shoebury, near Southend-on-Sea.Essex Police said on Wednesday: "We received a report of an incident at Campfield Road in Shoebury at around 10am this morning (27 March), during which a man who was working at height had fallen and sustained an injury. "The ambulance service including air ambulance were in attendance.

Sadly, the man died at the scene. "We will continue liaising with partners including the Heath and Safety Executive. A cordon remains in place at the scene."The tragic event reportedly took place at EGL Homecare and police tape can still be seen around the area.In pictures obtained by the Mirror, a huge blue cherry picker can be seen that goes up to the roof of the building which stands at 35 feet high.

Building equipment and scaffolding poles can be seen on the roof and two police cars are parked at the scene. After the heartbreaking news of George's passing, tributes have been pouring in for the star of the Channel 4 show, who appeared alongside his mum Linda and stepdad Pete.

It's believed that George's friends gathered at a pub in Clacton-on-Sea to remember him, with his heartbroken mum reportedly "in bits" after hearing about her son's death.
