It’s been reported that small moves made by the monarchy last year will ensure that Prince Harry and Prince Andrew will not be able to step in to help as the King takes time out for a medical procedure. As we reported earlier this week, the Royal Family has suffered a double health blow as it was revealed that the Princess of Wales is recovering from “successful” abdominal surgery which took place on Wednesday, and she’ll be absent from royal duties as she recovers until Easter.

King Charles, who will be admitted for corrective surgery for an enlarged prostate next week, has also cancelled scheduled appointments including meetings at Dumfries House this week as he prepares for the procedure.

He’ll also need a “short period of recuperation” after the operation, meaning two of the most high profile members of the family are out of action for a while.Harry and his uncle, the disgraced Duke of York, are not working royals anymore, but could in theory represent the monarch during illness or while he’s on duties abroad because they hold the constitutional titles of Counsellors of State. But thanks to ‘quiet’ moves made by the monarch when he took the throne following the death of his mother the Queen, Harry and Charles will not be able to fulfil these duties despite being senior members of the family.

Charles added his siblings the Princess Royal and the Duke of Edinburgh to theCounsellors of State Act 2022, which means Anne and Edward can now perform royal functions in the name of their brother the King, as writes the Mirror.
