Regular 'deep cleans' are being carried out on trams and buses across Greater Manchester amid fears a bed bug invasion could be looming.

It comes after the blood-sucking critters were apparently spotted on the London Underground. Sightings in the capital have emerged on social media following an outbreak in Paris.

One grim clip posted on TikTok shows a small brown insect crawling up a commuter's leg on the Victoria Tube Line. Transport for London said it is 'not aware of any confirmed sightings of bedbugs' on the capital's transport network, but that it was continuing to closely monitor the network and 'takes all possible precautionary measures'.
