Selome Hailu Episode 2 of “The Penguin” hit 1.6 million viewers across HBO and Max on Sunday. Per Warner Bros. Discovery, that marks a 17% increase from the series premiere, which debuted on Sept.
19. The network initially reported 5.3 million viewers for Episode 1 after four days of viewing across platforms — including the initial linear airing on HBO, streaming on Max, and repeat airings on HBO — but this new statistic suggests that the pilot’s first night yielded approximately 1.3 million viewers.
Notably, that episode debuted on a Thursday night, while Episode 2 brought the series to its regular Sunday night timeslot. Episode 1, WBD notes, hit 10.4 million viewers after 11 days, taking “The Penguin” above all current HBO series except for “House of the Dragon” and “The Last of Us.” “The Penguin” is DC Studios’ first new series under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s leadership, though it was developed before their appointment as co-CEOs.
Lauren LeFranc serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Farrell, director Craig Zobel and Bill Carraro.
