There's nothing quite like a walk in the woods to blow away those cobwebs, especially once the spring flowers are starting to bloom.
But in a forest in Cheshire, there's something much more exciting for the little people in your life. Delamere Forest is home to the Gruffalo trail and features sculptures of the purple prickled one himself, as well as other characters from the popular children's book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
We came across the trail by chance on a recent trip to the forest, where we'd stayed in one of the Hoseasons' forest lodges and swung through the trees at the venue's Go Ape attraction. READ MORE: 'We found the coolest place to eat with kids in Manchester for Mother's Day' The Forestry England trail has been there a number of years now, but it pulls in the visitors who are keen to stop and have their photos taken with the likes of the owl and the snake.
There is a picnic area in front of the Gruffalo, which is great for the warmer weather, but not so much in February. Knowing that we'd all be feeling pretty peckish after our stroll through the deep dark wood, we'd parked at the Delamere Station House cafe, which meant we avoided any parking charges and could nip inside for some lunch before heading home.
