ITV's The Chase viewers were left yelling at their televisions after a tense performance from Scottish contestant, Claire, from Ardrossan.
She was part of the team challenging Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha on Tuesday afternoon, but her performance ended abruptly in heart wrenching circumstances, leaving viewers all saying the same thing. The singing teacher hoped to win enough cash to buy new recording equipment for her band, but her answer to a question about former US presidents left host Bradley Walsh puzzled. After teammate Barney's strong performance, Claire was next and only managed to secure £2,000 in the cash builder round, an amount she decided to stick with despite the chaser offering £60,000 and a mere £200.After a shaky start with the first two questions wrong, Claire moved one step closer to the final chase, only to be stopped by two consecutive incorrect answers.
With her fate hanging on a single-question shootout, she was asked: "Which of these American presidents shares his first name with an English king?
A: Kennedy, B: Hoover or C: Johnson."Claire's nerves got the better of her and she chose Hoover, causing Bradley Walsh to exclaim: "Seriously? " "It's a complete guess, Brad," Claire responded.
