A hotel in Blackpool has officially be named the best luxury hotel on the continent after picking up the accolade at a prestigious hotel awards.

BLVD Hotel took home the gong for Best Luxury Hotel in Northern Europe at the World Luxury Hotel Awards. Leading hoteliers from around the world convened at the five-star Grand Hyatt Athens in Greece to see the winners crowned from more than 2,000 nominees at the glittering ceremony, reports Lancs Live.

Established in 2006, the awards is regarded as the pinnacle of achievement in the luxury hotel industry, provide international recognition as voted by guests, travellers and industry players.

Nominations are evaluated based on service delivery, luxury and presentation, as well as feedback from guests. The awards, now in their seventeenth year, are then voted for by more than 300,000 international travellers during a four-week period to select the winners.
