Miroslav Koubek believes Viktoria Plzen will need to extend their impressive home unbeaten European record because he knows the tables will be turned against Hearts at Tynecastle, writes Scott Burns in the Czech Republic. The experienced boss led his side to the quarter finals of the Conference League last season before their dream was wrecked by Fiorentina and now is looking to load his team into the group stage of the Europa League.
Koubek knows it could be a special atmosphere in their second leg of their Europa League play-off in sold-out Gorgie next week and one his players won’t be used to.That is why he is looking for a first leg win at the Doosan Arena on Thursday night.
Koubek stated: "You know me, I'm always trying to be optimistic. We start 50-50. In the fourth round you cannot meet any weak opponents, especially in view of the second match because my players are not used to the kind of atmosphere we can expect.
I will try to remain optimistic.”The Plzen coach pinpointed Lawrence Shankland as a main man but claimed Hearts are far from being a one man team.
