Teenager told mum 'I'm tired' before fatal car crash with lorry

A teenager sent a message to his mother saying "I'm tired" before he died in a tragic collision. Robert Adams, 19, was driving on the A55 when he collided with a lorry in May, 2022.The teen's Vauxhall Astra was wedged under the trailer of the vehicle which contained 13 tons of cheese.

He suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, reports NorthWalesLive.At an inquest on Friday, dashcam footage was shown from the Astra before the collision and viewed by members of Mr Adams' family who were present.

A statement was read on behalf of his mother, Lorraine Lansbury, who was with the family on the day of the accident.Her son had spent the afternoon at a fair with relatives before going Deiniolen in the village of Gwynedd, Wales to visit his girlfriend.

At around 1.25am he called his mother to tell him he was on his way home but admitted he was "tired". He sent her a picture of himself in cruise control keeping to a 40mph zone.But nine minutes later the crash occurred with the driver of the Volvo lorry, James Boyce, who told police he was slowing down to approach a 30mph zone when the collision happened, his tachometer confirmed that he was travelling at 29.2mph.Mr Adams' family said he had a 'heart of gold' and was always keen to help others.
