Susanna Reid pauses Good Morning Britain for apology after 'unpleasant' chat with Ed Balls turns tense

Susanna Reid found herself pausing Good Morning Britain to issue a quick apology as she realised her debate with Ed Balls wasn't quite early morning-friendly.

The pair were back at the helm of the ITV news programme on Tuesday (July 11). They were on hand to deliver the latest news headlines to viewers as well as oversee the latest debates, conduct interviews and get the latest entertainment news.

And one of the debates on the cards during the latest broadcast was whether a 'tan tax' should be implemented by hotels. It comes after research found that stains from fake tan and heavy make-up on bedding and towels cost the hotel industry nearly £1.8 million a year.

At the end of the programme, viewers saw TOWIE star Harry Derbridge and Love Island's Liberty Poole debate the subject while Ed and Susanna also discussed it with different commentators throughout the show. She then added: "Do you know what, just put them in the wash." But Ed was a bit more defensive over the subject, probably after having his own fair share of tans during his stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016 and wasn’t too pleased with his co-star's remark and he commented back: "You can’t just destroy our debate right now!" Susanna then hit back: "I’m not!
