Stirling's Remembrance Sunday parade and service details confirmed

Arrangements for this year’s Remembrance Sunday service and procession in Stirling city centre have been confirmed.The annual service to commemorate those who have died in conflicts will take place at the Church of the Holy Rude at 10.45am on Sunday November 12.Prior to this, a gathering at Cowane’s Hospital will lead a formal procession into the service.

The traditional parade from the church, towards the Cenotaph, will take place immediately following the service for the laying of wreaths.The route of the procession towards the Cenotaph will take its usual format of heading down St John Street, Spittal Street and onto Corn Exchange Road.Baillie Gerry McGarvey said: “It’s a deeply humbling time of year when we pause to reflect on the memory of those who gave their lives in service.“Stirling has a proud connection with our armed forces community and many will wish to pay their respects in what will be a poignant occasion both at the service and at the procession where we will take time to honour the sacrifices made through the horrors of conflict.”Elsewhere across the area a host of services and events will take place for Remembrance Sunday.

In Bannockburn, Allan Church’s service is at 10.45am followed by a short communal service at the cenotaph; Ladywell Church service is also at 10.45am to allow a two minute silence to be observed at 11am; and Murrayfield Church’s Remembrance service takes place at 10.30am in the Enterprise Hub and also on YouTube.Bridge of Allan Parish Church’s retirement collection at morning worship on Sunday at 10.50am will go to Poppy Scotland and there is also a community Remembrance Service in Memorial Park at 2pm.Bruce Memorial Church
