Some 999 calls aren't getting through in parts of Cheshire tonight because of 'technical' issues. People who want to report emergencies are being asked to use mobiles, not landlines.

The glitch is affecting calls made from landlines in Macclesfield, Knutsford, Bollington and Northwich. Engineers are working to fix the problem but in the meantime people are being asked to use mobiles in those areas.

The issue is not expected to be completely resolved until 6am tomorrow.
