Former BBC newsreader Huw Edwards' sick double life has been revealed after he dodged jail time for accessing indecent images of children.
The formerly respected broadcaster was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for two years, after admitting to his crimes.The offences, which took place between December 2020 and April 2022, relate to 377 images shared on a disturbing WhatsApp chat, with seven of them Category A - the most serious type.Edwards, 63, who was best known for presenting the Six O'Clock News was previously a "national treasure" before his downfall and announced Queen Elizabeth's death then led the BBC's coverage of her funeral, reports the Mirror.Behind cameras, he gave the impression of being a devoted Christian, dedicated husband, and a father to five children.
But all the while Edwards hid a horrifying secret from his wife, Vicky Flind. In early 2018, convicted paedophile Alex Williams made contact with the newsreader and they exchanged sexual images for more than four years.
Edwards described some of the abuse images as "amazing" and "hot", Westminster Magistrates Court heard today.In one stomach-churning exchange, Williams sent Edwards a Cat A child abuse image on Christmas Day, to which the ex-News at Ten presenter simply replied, "F***".
