Three local drag artists have shared their admiration after being invited by American superstar Chappell Roan to support her on her first Manchester show - which kicked off her UK and Europe tour.
The singer, who hit number one with her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, earlier this year, began her Midwest Princess Tour at Manchester Academy on Friday night (September 14).
Ahead of the performance, Chappell, known for recent hits including Good Luck, Babe and Hot To Go!, posted a call-out for local drag performers to support each night on the tour and the singer has previously shared her love and admiration for drag queens. READ MORE: A piece of real Manchester just vanished For the Manchester show, which took on a mermaid theme, it was Donna Trump, Shanika Sunrise and Tequila Thirst chosen to open up for the singer, who won the Best New Artist trophy at the MTV VMAS 2024 just two days earlier.
Shanika, originally from Sandbach in Cheshire and now living in the city centre, was the first to take to the stage - and was able to perform a number of their original songs to the sold out crowd.
