Two teenagers have been arrested following the death of a 16-year-old boy, whose body was recovered from a river in Cheshire.

Jonty Evans' body was found in the River Weaver in South Cheshire on September 1. He'd last been seen two days earlier in the Queens Drive area of Nantwich - sparking a missing person appeal, CheshireLive reports.

Cheshire Police previously launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward as detectives looked to piece together the teenager's last-known movements before he was sadly found in the river.

Now the force has confirmed that two 16-year-olds from Crewe have been arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault. The pair have since been released on conditional bail.
