Cheshire Police previously launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward as detectives looked to piece together the teenager's last-known movements before he was sadly found in the river.
Now the force has confirmed that two 16-year-olds from Crewe have been arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault. The pair have since been released on conditional bail.
