Music legend Sinead O'Connor has tragically died aged 56 and floods of Outlander fans are amongst those paying tribute to the singer, after she sang a haunting rendition of the show's them tune for its latest season.The Irish singer-songwriter was the most recent person to sing the iconic Outlander theme song 'The Skye Boat Song' as the show entered its penultimate season.
The late singer was chosen to sing the track as Starz bosses believed she 'embodied the spirit' of Outlander.Announcing the exciting news earlier this year, showrunner Matthew B.
Roberts said: "We are honoured to have Sinéad O’Connor performing ‘The Skye Boat Song.’ Her rendition is, for me, a reminder of all that’s beautiful about 'Outlander.'"He added: "She is talented beyond measure.
Hers is a voice of the ages — one which pierces heart and soul — and embodies the spirit of the show."Following the news of Sinead's shocking passing, Caitriona Balfe - who plays Claire Fraser on the hit show - penned a heartfelt tribute to the Irish singer.
