Shotts blew the West of Scotland First Division title race wide open with a 2-0 win over leaders Petershill – with boss John McKeown insisting they should have scored more.Goals from Ben Richford and Keiran Campbell gave Shotts three vital points that moved them up to fifth place, nine points behind Petershill, with as many games in hand.It also reduced Petershill’s gap over second-placed Drumchapel United, who have five games in hand of their own, to five points.McKeown said: “We keep ticking them off.

We more than deserved our victory, I don’t think anybody could have begrudged us of it.“We had most of the ball, I don’t think Petershill had a shot on target until late in the game when they had a header off the post.“We dominated and probably could have got a couple more.“It was a chance to put a wee statement down, because it’s so tight all over the league that to go and beat the team that’s at the top is so important.“It brings ourselves a bit closer to them as well, and a lot of teams round about us are dropping points, so it was a good weekend.“But there will be loads of twists and turns and we just need to keep taking it in our stride.“It’s an old cliché but I keep saying to the boys ‘a game at a time’, and next week we’ve got a wee bit of a break from the league and are into cup action.”McKeown added: “It was tough weather conditions, really windy, but I felt we dealt with it really well, had most of the ball and loads of chances.“In my view we had a stonewall penalty denied in the first half, we had a goal probably wrongly offside in the second half, so it could have been a wee bit more.“But we’re at a stage where we just want to win games and keep going.“We have a young squad, so we just tell them to stay
