Mick Kennedy hailed hat-trick hero Cami Elliot after East Kilbride smashed seven goals past University of Stirling in the Lowland League on Saturday.Fourth-place Kilby responded to last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Cumbernauld Colts in empathic fashion, which added to a thumping 5-0 win at Broomhill earlier in the week. They then negotiated their way past East Stirling in the SPFL Trust Trophy second round on Wednesday night, winning 3-1 on penalties after a 2-2 draw, despite Tiwi Daramola being sent off after 30 minutes.Goals from Cami Elliott and Lewis Spence had Kilby 2-1 ahead, only to be pegged back, but Spence, John Robertson and Ryan Lockie netted in the shoot-out.Elliot grabbed a treble at K-Park on Saturday alongside a Daramola double, a Robertson strike and a late penalty from new signing Steven Boyd, taking their goals tally to 20 in just four games, ahead of their cup win.And Kennedy, who let striker Robert Thomson and Keir Samson leave the club this month after Elliot’s impressive return to East Kilbride this summer, said: “Cami has been outstanding since he came back.“No disrespect to Keir and Thommo, I just felt they weren’t right for the system we’re playing this season and Cami is perfect for it.“That has been shown so far, not just with his goals but what he brings to the team with his overall level of performance.“We’ve scored 20 goals in four games so far and, outside the Colts game, it has been emphatic wins.“I wasn’t overly concerned about the Cumbernauld Colts game because we had so much control, we just got caught a couple of times.“I knew if we continued to play with the level of quality we showed in that Colts game, we would win games of football.“I’m pleased for Steven as well.
