Search begins for undiscovered boy actor to play lead role in film set in Wishaw estate

Producers of a new short film that’s to be shot in Wishaw are searching for a boy from the area to play the leading role.The young actor is being sought for Ryan Pollock’s latest short film, GOWK, which is being supported by the Sean Connery Foundation, BBC Film and the NFTS (National Film and Television School).Ryan, who lives in Netherton, previously shot his own short film Bluebird in Wishaw, predominantly in and around the Gowkthrapple estate which is being demolished to make way for hundreds of new homes.It featured as part of the Royal Scottish Academy’s 197th annual art exhibition at the gallery situated on Edinburgh’s Mound.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
