Screaming Trees bassist Van Conner dead at 55 after battle with pneumonia

VAN Conner, the co-founder of rock group Screaming Trees, has died at 55 years old after a battle with pneumonia. His brother and bandmate, Gary Lee Conner, shared the news on his Facebook page. "Van Conner bassist and song writer of Screaming Trees died last night of an extended illness at 55. "It was pneumonia that got him in the end. "He was one of the closest friends I ever had and I loved him immensely. "I will miss him forever and ever and ever…" Gary revealed a liver infection sent his brother to the hospital, but admitted he had been suffering from "an array of health problems" since late 2021.

Van played bass on the rock band’s hits including All I Know and Nearly Lost You. He and his brother Gary formed the band in 1984, alongside singer Mark Lanegan and drummer Mark Pickerel in Ellensburg, Washington.

Lanegan died last year a the age of 57.
