A secluded Scottish beach has been named one of the "best secret and remote" bays across the UK. The start of June is just days away, which means we are closer than ever to peak beach season in Scotland.

While our weather will forever remain unpredictable, it is fair to say that we will probably get at least a few days of sunshine and heat over the coming weeks.Ahead of the summer, The Telegraph has rounded up "Britain’s 20 best secret and remote beaches to avoid the crowds".

One of the beaches included on the newspaper's list is Clashnessie Bay in the Highlands.Located around 10 miles to the north of Lochinver in the Assynt district of Sutherland, Clashnessie Bay is a short drive from the famous Achmelvich Bay.

Its name is derived from the Gaelic 'clais an easaidh', which translates to 'glen of the waterfall' — referring to the nearby fifteen-meter Clashnessie Falls.
