Footy fans heading to Munich to catch Euros can look forward to fine weather, but should take extra care to prevent sunburn.Munich will see 21C temperatures as Scotland take on Germany in the first match of Euro 2024, according to local forecasters.
This heat will likely have many fans taking part in the Scottish "taps aff" tradition to help them soak in the highly sought after sunshine.
However, this puts Scots at a major risk for sunburn, at a time of year when damaging UV rays are at their strongest. As such, any fan looking to flash some skin should ensure they apply plenty of sun cream before doing so.With the summer solstice just around the corner, figures on the UV Index, which measures the strength of the sun's rays, are higher at this time of year. Its Munich forecast for this Friday is currently at a six, with seven being the highest on the scale.
In contrast, Scotland's highest UV Index number for the same day is a weaker four, meaning Scottish skin will be far less used to the strong German sun.It should also be said that UV rays can still cause damage even in cloudy skies, which can catch people out.
