Scotland to be hit by ice blast and 70mph winds tonight as rain to freeze over

The Met Office has issued fresh yellow weather warnings, as Scotland continues to experience unsettled conditions.Forecasters are predicting temperatures will drop overnight as rain will freeze over and turn to dangerous slippy ice as wintry weather takes hold once more.

Strong winds will also hit parts of the country today, with some gusts reaching speeds of up to 70mph. Lasting will last through the night until Saturday morning, the blustery weather is likely to cause transport disruption.A separate alert is also in place for ice as snowfall settles and freezes.

Appearing later on Friday night, patches will appear on untreated roads before clearing up tomorrow morning. Scots are being urged to take caution when out and about due to a higher risk of accidents.It comes as 'danger to life' weather warning has been issued for parts of Scotland today, with an amber alert for heavy rain issued for rain in parts of Dumfries and Galloway as well as the Scottish Borders.The 'amber' alert warns that "fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life".
