Amanda, 45, from Lochgilphead, and Nikki, 70, from Ardrishaig, in Argyll, secured the 44-ton lorry which left Scotland on Wednesday for the city of Vinnytsia.

The truck was filled with more than 2500 parcels for children as well as pallets of water, food, medical equipment, generators and candles, which will be distributed by volunteers.

Amanda said: “Ukraine is in crisis and we just feel so much for what they are going through. We really wanted to help out any way we could and send them lots of love from the west coast of Scotland.”Mum-of-one Amanda launched an appeal on Facebook for humanitarian aid donations in March, just after the war broke out.
