Sam Mendes

Sir Samuel Alexander Mendes CBE (born 1 August 1965) is an English film and stage director, producer and screenwriter. In theatre, he is known for his dark re-inventions of the stage musicals Cabaret (1994), Oliver! (1994), Company (1995), and Gypsy (2003). He directed an original West End stage musical for the first time with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2013).

For directing the play The Ferryman, Mendes was awarded the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play in 2019.

Sam Mendes to Direct Four Separate Beatles Movies on Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter John, Paul, George and Ringo will each be the subject of a new feature film. Director Sam Mendes is planning to make four separate movies, one about each member of the Beatles.

Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, as well as the families of the late John Lennon and George Harrison, have granted full life-story and music rights for the scripted films. “I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” Mendes said in a statement.
