He's set to join Radio 1 this week to host the station's widely-loved Going Home show, and Jamie Laing is determined to prove that while he rose to fame on reality TV, he's got so much more to offer.

The Made In Chelsea star, who is taking over from current host Jordan North and joining co-host Vick Hope, announced the new role in February, but has received some backlash from fans who accuse him of not deserving the role. "I've been trying to get this job for eight years, constantly grinding, constantly asking to do little slots," said Jamie as he hit back at the trolls this week during an interview with the Sunday Times.

He continued: "No one is given a job here because their mum or dad helped them into it. You have to earn your colours. "I suppose what people see now is that I'm maybe not just a posh idiot.

After years of doing podcasting, the audience went, "Oh, hang on, we trust this person'." The radio industry has had quite the switch up for 2024, and Jamie isn't the only one stepping into a new role.
