Ryan Reynolds made sure to include a tribute to co-star Rob Delaney‘s late son, Henry, in Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine after saying he’s “always kicked [his] own ass” for not doing so in the second installment of the franchise. “If there’s a bright side, even more people are seeing Henry’s name in the credits of Deadpool & Wolverine.
And at long last, father and son are sharing the same screen,” the action star wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post shared Monday.
Henry died at age 2 in 2018 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor two years prior. His death coincided with the wrapping of Deadpool 2. “There’s more to @robdelaney than some realize,” Reynolds wrote. “He’s one of the most subversively funny people I know.
He’s a beautiful, acerbic and vulnerable writer. If you stayed through the credits of Deadpool & Wolverine, you might notice a credit saying, ‘For Henry Delaney’ … I’ve always kicked my own ass because I didn’t place a tribute to Henry over the end credits of DP2.” Delaney, who portrays Wade Wilson’s (Reynolds) friend Peter in the film, wrote a memoir, A Heart That Works, detailing his and his family’s experience with grief in the aftermath, published in 2022.
