It's six months since Ryan Jack dismissed Scotland retirement talk - but his concerned Rangers boss Philippe Clement admits it may soon be time to revisit the conversation.Jack’s ability to handle the dual strain of playing for club and country has come into sharp focus again after returning from last week’s international break injured.

The Ibrox midfield ace, 31, looked back to his best as he started four games on the spin for Clement’s team before reporting for duty with Steve Clarke’s Euros bound Scotland side. But his run in the Light Blues line-up was brought to a run as he sat out yesterday’s trip to Pittodrie having suffered a fresh knock during a late cameo appearance in the Scots’ final qualifier against Norway.

That’s proved to be the final straw for a section of the Rangers support, who reckon it’s time for Jack to put Clement’s needs before Clarke’s.

That seems unlikely given it was only back in March that Jack - capped 18 times - felt fully able to serve both masters. “Right now, aye I can do both,” he said. “Right now, my mindset is that I love being part of the Scotland set-up and I love playing for Rangers.” But Clement now says it might be a discussion worth having.
