The family of Ron Gordon have vowed to carry out the late Hibs owner's legacy in Edinburgh after his death earlier this month. It was recently announced by the Premiership side that the American was fighting cancer, and his passing at the age of 68 was announced by his club on February 21.

Hibs will play their first match since the heartbreaking news on Saturday away to Livingston and the Gordon family have now paid thanks to the wider Scottish football community, for gestures such as the minute’s applause at Sunday's League Cup final between Rangers and Celtic. They have also confirmed they intend to remain in Edinburgh and help Lee Johnson's side all club departments fulfil the ambitions their late executive chairman had.

It reads: "Ron was a beloved husband, father, and brother. As we grieve his death as a family, we are immensely grateful for the tremendous outpouring of love and support we have received from the Hibernian family."From day one, it was clear to us that Hibs is more than just a football club, it is a big family.

The last few days have reaffirmed this, when our hearts were broken, the sunshine from Leith brought some much-needed light into our lives, we cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generosity."We've been overwhelmed by the countless messages, flowers, and tributes honoring Ron's work and thanking him for all he did at Hibernian in pursuit of moving the club forward.
