Rock star Steve Harley has sadly passed away at his home in Suffolk on Sunday morning after a short fight with cancer at aged 73.The sad news comes just one month after the lead singer of Cockney Rebel had to stop touring for cancer treatment, reports the Mirror.In February, a message to his fans on social media said: "Due to on-going treatment for cancer, Steve cannot commit to any concerts in 2024.
Steve is hoping next year will be altogether different. He appreciates all you kind words and good wishes. Team SH."Fans shared their support online, with one saying: "All the best with your treatment Steve, here's hoping for a full recovery." Another wrote: "Hope you feel better soon, sending love to you and yours."A third added: "Sending positive thoughts your way.
Best wishes to you and your family."Steve was very successful with his band Cockney Rebel. They had a big song called Sebastian that did really well in Europe in 1973.
But his fame blew up when his song Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me) went to number one in 1975.The song has hit a chord so much across the decades that it is often cited in votes for top singles in chart history.
