Atlanta rapper’s death last month, aged 34.The rapper’s family told TMZ that he died on September 5 at his home in the city, and that they were “shattered and heartbroken”.

No cause of death was shared at the time.Now, it’s been revealed that the artist – real name Dequantes Lamar – died from an accidental drug overdose, confirmed by a medical examiner’s office in Georgia.In a report by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday (October 1) obtained by People magazine, several drugs were found in his system, including fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, promethazine and THC.The report also indicated that there were no signs on trauma when his body was found, and the death was ruled an accident.According to an incident report obtained by the magazine, Lamar’s brother told police that he woke up at 3am and thought the rapper was asleep on the floor by the kitchen with food in his mouth, noting it was “very unusual”, before he picked him off the floor and put him on the couch.At 11am that morning, a woman called the police after noticing his body was cold and he was not breathing.The rapper, a father of five, rose to prominence in 2013 with the single ‘Type Of Way’, which reached Number 50 on the Billboard Hot 100, while his 2015 single ‘Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)’ peaked at Number 26.Lamar was also known for being a key member of Rich Gang, a project from Cash Money Records, alongside Young Thug.
