The moderators for the Vice Presidential Debate warned the candidates – JD Vance and Tim Walz – that their microphones could be muted if they went over on their allotted time… and it happened.

Moderators Margaret Brennan and Norah O’Donnell were forced to cut off the microphones in a moment that stemmed from Vance‘s claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. During the VP debate, Vance referred to the immigrants as “illegal aliens.” While the moderators said they wouldn’t be fact checking, Brennan clarified that many of the Haitian immigrants in Ohio are there legally. “The rules were that you guys weren’t going to fact check,” Vance said while continuing to take time to attempt to prove his point.
