Residents in an East Lothian town were urged to 'stay away' from power station following an incident.Emergency services raced to the incident at Cockenzie Power Station site on Saturday at around 4pm.

Following this East Lothian Council asked members of the public to stay away from the area. Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent four appliances and special resources to the scene.

Emergency services are believed to still be in the area, reports Edinburgh Live.East Lothian Council posted a statement on social media shortly after 6pm on Sunday, August 11, saying: "Emergency services are currently attending an incident on part of the Cockenzie Power Station site. "Members of the public are advised to stay away from the area at present.

More information will follow."A spokesperson for the SFRS said: "I can confirm crews are in attendance at an ongoing incident at Cockenzie Power Station and we received the call at 15.54pm.
