Rachel Lindsay is reflecting on The Bachelorette. The 39-year-old reality TV alum spoke about her 2017 engagement to now ex Bryan Abasolo on the Getting Grilled podcast. “I was very quiet on the way home.

I was weirded out,” she admitted on the episode, adding that she “did not think [she] was getting married” before starring on the series. “I was scared,” she admitted. Keep reading to find out more… “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, now I have to tell my parents that I got engaged,’ because when I left to go do The Bachelor[ette], I was like, ‘Don’t worry, I’m not going to fall for any of these men,’ and I did, so I was so terrified to tell them.” Over time, she and her now-ex were able to bond over their shared interests. “After that first night, I was like, there’s potential here, but I still was like, ‘There’s no way I’m gonna marry this person.’ And even when you get engaged at the end, it’s the scariest day when the cameras shut down,” she said. “But you have this ring on your finger, and there’s this man, and for the first time, you ride in the car together, you’re going to the same hotel room together.

It’s like, this is the beginning of your new life.” They tied the knot in Mexico in August 2019, and were married for nearly five years when he filed for divorce in January 2024, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

He also asked the court for $16,000 per month in spousal support, and was awarded two monthly payments totaling $13,257 by a judge.
