A Trafford pub is alleged to have been used as a brothel, according to council documents. A man and a woman were arrested in connection with the probe into The Railway Inn, 153 Manchester Road, Broadheath, Altrincham, last month, police said.

Officers alleged a 'vulnerable' woman was 'trafficked from outside Trafford to work there'. The venue was shut last month after Greater Manchester Police and town hall officers said they uncovered 'significant evidence' it was being used to offer 'sexual services for reward'.

Two people were detained on suspicion of 'crimes relating to controlling prostitution for gain', the force said. Magistrates issued a three-month closure order on February 21. The council officer claims women were offered payment 'in the form of drugs'. Licensing papers published ahead of a town hall meeting next week include further details into the investigation by police and the council.
