A police officer sexually assaulted two women in a city centre. Paul Ledwith, 49, denied sexual assault but was found guilty following a trial at Manchester Crown Court on Thursday, September 19, the Liverpool Echo reports.
Ledwith, who was a serving officer with Merseyside Police at the time of the offences, has since been dismissed from the force.
The findings of a misconduct hearing held at Eaton Road Police Station on May 26 2021 and published on Friday, September 27, found former Constable 1867 Ledwith's behaviour amounted to gross misconduct.
The Echo previously reported how Ledwith, of Wisteria Way, Bold, St Helens, appeared at Manchester Crown Court in March 2021 and pleaded not guilty to five charges of sexual assaults against two women between July and August 2020.
