Police detain person on M60 hard shoulder after they 'crossed motorway'

A person has been detained on the M60 motorway this morning after they 'crossed the carriageway'. Police said the pedestrian crossed the motorway between junction 17 and 16 near Prestwich.

They were 'detained on the hard shoulder'. One lane was shut on the exit slip road on the anticlockwise carriageway earlier at junction 16, according to traffic alert service Inrix.

A tweet posted by the North West Motorway Police said: "Police and National Highways are currently dealing with a pedestrian that had crossed the carriageway on M60 junction 17 to 16. "The pedestrian has been detained on the hard shoulder.
