Police called after crash between tram and car on Tameside line

Police were called to a crash between a tram and a car on the Metrolink line in Tameside this morning. The smash happened on the Ashton line near to Snipe retail park.

Pictures showed multiple police vehicles on the scene at around 6.45am. The car appeared to have been left damaged to its side.

The car has since been moved from the tracks and the line has reopened as normal. In a statement, a TfGM spokesperson said: "A Metrolink tram was involved in a collision with a car at Ashton Moss (Snipe Junction) just after 6.15 this morning.
