Police appeal after attempt robbery by six youths on a tram

Police have issued an appeal to track down the victim after an attempted robbery on the Metrolink. The incident happened on a tram from Deansgate-Castlefield to the Trafford Centre at around 5.20pm on Friday (February 23).

Police said a 'group of six youths - five male and one female' - tried to rob a victim. The victim then got off the tram at the Trafford Centre.

PC Evans of GMP City of Manchester Neighbourhood Crime Team said: "Greater Manchester Police is investigating this report of attempted robbery and is appealing to the victim to make themselves known.

We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and are keen to identify and arrest those responsible. "If you are the victim, or you have information about this incident - including mobile phone footage - I urge you to contact police and aid our enquiries."
