Parents have just days left to register for free childcare from April or risk missing out

Parents only have a few days left to apply for essential free childcare from April. It comes after the government confirmed it would expand free childcare for working parents and their two-year-old children.

Currently, working parents of three and four-year-olds are able to access 30 hours of free childcare. However, from April 1, this will be extended to 15 hours of free childcare for working parents of two-year-olds.

Applications are only open until March 31, giving eligible parents just a few more days to secure the support. Parents who don't register before March 31 will miss out on getting childcare this term and will have to wait until September. Applications for this group will be open between May 12 and August 31. You can apply for free childcare through gov.uk. Before starting the application process, you need to have the following on hand: If your application is approved, you will receive a code which you can hand to your childcare provider.
