A popular film from 2011 is to be remade into a series, prompting complaints from Netflix subscribers. The streamer confirmed a reimagined version of One Day, which originally starred Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, will land on the small screen in February.

This Is Going To Hurt star Ambika Mod will play protagonist Emma Morley while The White Lotus' Leo Woodall portrays Dexter Mayhew.

The new 14-episode series is based on David Nicholls’ worldwide bestselling novel of the same name. Set in 1988, it tells the decades-spanning love story of protagonists Dex and Em as they reunite on the same day every year.

Each episode finds the pair one year older on this one particular date as they grow and change, move together and apart, and experience joy and heartbreak.
