Co-boss Chris Cameron believes Neilston are their own worst enemy at the moment after throwing away more First Division points against Gartcairn.The Farmer’s Boys went behind at the Brig O’Lea Stadium in the first half but took control of the match in the second half, levelling through defender Robbie Halliday.When Neilston centre back Paul Doyle was forced off injured, the hosts lost their defensive shape – with the visitors scoring a second on the break to seal all three points.Cameron insists his side aren’t far away from hitting their stride again but admits they must begin to tighten up again at the back after some uncharacteristic mistakes in defence.Cameron said: “This is now three weeks in a row when we’ve been in great positions to go and win the game and conspired to lose it.“They broke from our own corner to score in the first half, which rocked us a little but, but after that we were in control and scored a good goal to get level.“We missed a couple of gilt-edged chances and then lost Doyle to injury.“We lost our defensive discipline after that.
We were all over the shop at the back and that definitely hurt us.“We lost another soft goal on the break after committing too many forward, so it’s frustrating again.“We’re usually so good at keeping the back door shut, I’m not sure if we’ve just been a bit too desperate to go and get the win.“The opportunities have been there for us to win games recently, but we’re just hurting ourselves.
We keep shooting ourselves in the foot and that needs to stop quickly.”It doesn’t get any easier for Neilston this weekend as they travel to one of the First Division’s in-form sides, Drumchapel United.Cameron is looking forward to the challenge and insists there won’t be much
