Ryan Gauld on brink of completing astonishing Vancouver Whitecaps transformation that must lead to Scotland call up
Ryan Gauld has been one of Major League Soccer’s standout players in 2021, and on Sunday night his Vancouver Whitecaps side have a chance of qualifying for the end of season playoffs — something that seemed impossible prior to his arrival midway through the season. Once a Dundee United wonderkid, the now 25-year-old Gauld moved to Canada this summer and to say he has hit the ground running would be an understatement. As a teenager, Gauld was the most promising young player in a Tangerines side that made it to the Scottish Cup final in 2014. It was a team full of quality and included the likes of Stuart Armstrong, John Souttar, and Andy Robertson — but Gauld was considered the star with the most potential.
