‘My 9 year old son’s cancer was misdiagnosed as growing pains'
ok.co.ukWhen Dylan Ward, from St. Neots in Cambridgeshire, went to the GP with a sore leg, he was told by the doctor that it was simply growing pains.
However, Dylan, then aged seven, was eventually diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, and given a less than 50/50 chance of survival, which shook his family to the core.
His diagnosis was labelled as inoperable due to the size of the tumour on his tail bone, resulting in a relentless regimen over the last 14 months, including 14 rounds of high-strength chemotherapy, six weeks of proton beam therapy, two weeks of radiotherapy, and ongoing oral chemotherapy.
Dylan's mum, Jessica Flack, 32, spoke to OK! about the long journey to getting a diagnosis, and how resilient Dylan has beat the odds to enjoy life and even compete in dressage at a national level... "I took him to a walk-in GP, in October 2021 because he was experiencing pain in his left leg for the entire day.
