Mum left horrified after her skin 'suddenly erupted into red-hot furnace' on Christmas Day

A mother-of-two's face turned into a “red-hot furnace” on Christmas Day, and made her look like “Rudolph” and feel incredibly self-conscious.

Anna Rees, a 44-year-old NHS project manager, had a skin flare-up while cooking dinner on Christmas Day 2021. Her skin was “so red and spotty” and the heat from the cooking made her skin “suddenly erupt” and she had to rush upstairs to splash cold water on it to try to cool it down – but it lasted for the entire Christmas period.

Anna avoided family photographs and was also “really worried” about why her skin had turned so red – she continued to have a bright red face with spots for the next few months, which “felt horrible” because she never expected to have acne in her 40s.

She saw her GP and was prescribed antibiotics but was told it would not make the redness disappear, which left Anna feeling “disheartened”.
