Graeme Souness has urged the Old Firm to thrash out a deal to bring away fans back to the bucket-list derby clash. The Rangers legend still rates the Glasgow showdown as the biggest game on the planet.
But he admits the fixture has lost some of its shine with the clubs at loggerheads over away ticket allocation. The sides are understood to be back around the table after both sets of fan were shut out of their rivals’ stadiums for the first two encounters of the season.
Rangers are willing to allow around 750 Celtic fans into Ibrox but Parkhead chiefs have pointed to safety concerns and are pushing for a return to the days when up to 7500 punters got in.The clubs collide again in April in Govan and Souness said: “There’s no doubt having an away support improves the atmosphere in the stadiums.
I also understand the logistics of getting everything right on the day is not easy. I understand why we don’t have away supporters but if we could have a scenario to make it work, it would definitely add to the fixture as a spectacle.
